Its goal was to defy the status quo and make wines that speak the unique terroir from which they are sourced. Placed in El Vallecito, in an unknown region for viticulture, the winery was built prioritizing work efficiency to achieve optimal winemaking process.
Bodega Puerta del Abra is integrated by a team of professionals that is committed to excellence and the well-being of grapes from the vineyard to the bottle. Therefore, we choose to destem grapes by hand, ensuring that they receive gentle handling and avoiding the presence of stems in the wine to achieve greater color concentration and rich polyphenols. Following the spirit of research and eager to know the terroir at its finest, we carry out micro-vinifications out of different blocks that were treated individually. This way, we seek to accomplish structured, full-bodied wines that stand out at any table.
Today, the winery has a capacity of 57000 liters distributed in stainless steel tanks and French oak barrels. White wines and sparkling wines are made in stainless steel tanks, while red wines are fermented and aged in new and used oak barrels. However, we keep production volumes low in order to maintain quality.
Under these premises, Puerta del Abra’s wines stand out from the rest; not only for being sourced from one of the oldest rock formation on earth, their soil and its proximity to the sea, but also because of the team of passionate people that strive to achieve a one of a kind product.
